“Oh, eternal and everlasting God, direct my thoughts, words and work. Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the lamb and purge my heart by the Holy Spirit. Daily, frame me more and more in the likeness of thy son, Jesus Christ, that living in thy fear, and dying in thy favor, I may in thy appointed time obtain the resurrection of the justified unto eternal life. Bless, O Lord, the whole race of mankind and let the world be filled with the knowledge of thy son, Jesus Christ.”
"God of truth and love, speak through my life in every word I say, every action I take, every desire I have. Amen."
"God, prepare me to accept the call you have placed on my life. Forgive me when I run from it. Help me to see what you see in me. Amen."

(Click on image to order Split) Come into a world of love-struck fish and super-intelligent bugs; of the ordinary and the bizarre; of then and now; of this world and the next; of people you know and folks you hope never to meet. These twenty-seven original stories and poems have but one thing in common: they all show two halves of an idea, two sides of a coin. They show what happens when a concept becomes SPLIT.
Recently there has been a lot of talk about how dirty and polluted the air is here in Houston. It can be particularly bad for people with asthma or compromised respiratory function. I visited the site to see just how bad it is, and well, we got an F in ozone and a D in particulate pollution. Just out of curiosity, and especially for us Houston transplants, how does your home state/city compare? Click on the map below, or visit http://www.stateoftheair.org and then add your comments to this post.
I'm afraid I've got you beat - my home state is Illinois and I'm from Richland county (which isn't in the list, but a nearby county of Effingham is). They score a grand A on the report card! No wonder I've developed allergies and asthma since moving away.
My fiancee is from Flint Michigan. They scored a B and C. Not too bad I suppose compared to here. He has constant allergies down here but claims he always has had. They did get much worse after moving here. Also, I am a school nurse, and have witnessed the effects of high ozone days on students with Asthma.
Like most people today, I wear many hats. I am child of God and mother of two incredibly wonderful daughters. Through my relationship with my very best friend, my extended family includes a granddaughter, grandsons, and even a great-granddaughter and great- grandson! I am also a writer, contributing author to Split – an anthology of short stories and poems reflecting dichotomies, and a sales and business development professional by trade.
